Cerezo Osaka U-23 lost the quarterfinals of the Leo Cup

Cerezo Osaka U-23 lost 0-3 against Thai side Port FC in the quarterfinals of the Leo Preseason Cup today.

Since Cerezo sealed a partnership with Bangkok Glass FC (currently BG Pathum United FC), they travel to Thailand for a preseason training camp every year. But this year, probably because of tight schedule, only the U-23 team are going to the country.

As they have used BGPU’s training ground for training, some of the players were able to meet their former teammate Chaowat who played at Cerezo Osaka U-23 in 2018.

Because the first team are undergoing their own training camp in Miyazaki, nearly half of the players going to Thailand are from the U-18 team. It is no wonder that the youngsters had to play a tough game against Thailand’s top tier side.

Among the players, Takuya Shimamura, who joined on loan from Kyoto Sanga FC, showed a good performance and caught the supporters’ eyes.
